Well This is the First time we will be Reviewing and Posting the Specs and features of The Google Nexus One ! . Since The Nexus One is proving to be very popular and is to compete with the iPhone 3GS , lets go ahead and compare the phones . We will begin the comparison without talking anymore about the Phones , based on their features .

1) Dimensions and Weight

The Phone has a Height of 119mm  and a width of 59.8mm and weighs just around 130 Grams with the battery . Where as the iPhone has a  dimension of  115mm a width of 62mm and weighs 135 Grams with the Battery . We have Nexus one on one side which is the Thinner that the iPhone , almost about the size of a pencil and also Weighs quiet less than the iPhone .So In simple terms This might be a plus point for the Nexus one . So Nexus one takes the lead with the Dimension and Weight .

Winner – Nexus One .

2) RAM and Processor

The Nexus one has a Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon 1Ghz Processor with 512MB of RAM  , on the other side the iPhone runs on a ARM CortexA8 600Mhz With 256 MB RAM . And again The Nexus One takes the lead by another point .

Winner- Nexus one.

3) Cellular and Wireless

The Nexus one can run on many cellular networks as we can get the Phone from Google as Factory Unlocked .

Its cellular and wireless specs -  UMTS Band 1/4/8 (2100/AWS/900) ,  HSDPA 7.2Mbps , HSUPA 2Mbps , GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) , Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR A2DP stereo Bluetooth.

The iPhone on the other hand is sold by AT&T and is not Provided unlocked by Apple , well Jailbraking the phone does the trick though .

Its cellular and wireless specs -  UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz),  GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) , Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) , Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR wireless technology.

Since Most of the features are available equally on both the phones , we have a Tie.

Winner – Tie – Both iPhone and Nexus one.

3) Display

Google has done a great job with the display of the Nexus one  – 3.7-inch (diagonal) widescreen WVGA AMOLED touchscreen, 800 x 480 pixels , 100,000:1 typical contrast ratio ,1ms typical response rate.

iPhone -  3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display, 480-by-320-pixel resolution at 163 ppi ,Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating ,Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously.

The Nexus one Takes the lead again with a 3.7 inch Screen (800×480 pixels) , the iPhone on the other hand is not so bad.

Winner – Nexus one.

4) Camera

The nexus one has a  – 5 Megapixel with Flash, No HD Video recording 720×480 pixels at 20fps , where it beats iPhone again which has – 3 Megapixel, Tap to focus, Video: VGA quality 30fps 640×480.

Winner – Nexus one.

5) Operating System & App Store

The Nexus one operates on Android 2.1 , the iPhone runs on iPhone OS 3.1.2 . The Android has very few applications in the App store when compared with the iPhone , the Android App store just made it to 20,000 Applications , the iPhone on the other hand has more than 1,00,000 Apps . This is  A plus point for the iPhone , but since the android is quiet new more apps are soon to be seen in the app store . The User experience with the Android 2.1 is still improving , where as the iPhone has better ease of use and a quiet good interface . Browsing has become easier on both the Phones , but the nexus one does not yet support the pinch and zoom feature which is a down point for the Nexus one .

We can say that the Android 2.1 is a much preferred platform but is still not used by many , whereas the iPhone is also much preferred and is used by many of the people .

Winner – iPhone.

6) Multitasking

Multitasking on the Nexus one is Possible very easily  , you can work with different apps at a time , where as in the iPhone this is not possible without Jailbreaking it .

Winner – Nexus one.

  • thanks 4 share
  • Hey nice article indeed! I wonder if there is voice command training feature in either of these mobiles just like in windows ..
  • Well I'm not pretty sure about the voice command Training feature , since i've not explored more through the Nexus one or the iPhone 3GS about it .

Well Google did launch Voice Guidance or what they call voice command for the Nexus one , Instead of typing anything you can Speak out the words you want it to write or Since you are using twitter you can Speak to Tweet or speak to text message ... it has a built in voice recognition keyboard .

Well in the case of the iPhone - you can use Voice control to make a call or to play music , but its not like the feature that nexus one has , which in this case the Nexus one becomes the winner
  • so you actually got a nexus one/iphone 3gs to have reviewed this ???
  • No I've studied the phone's basic Features through the Internet and made my first basic review , but i've personally used the iPhone 3GS .
  • Kevin M
Great article but the Nexus should have won storage since it's media is replaceable. I could have ten 32 GB micro SD cards. Also a more detailed study on who's voice commands worked the best would be nice. ;)
  • Thank you for reading the Article Kevin :D , Well yes you are right with the voice command and voice recognition feature of the Nexus one , which is really good . Well about the storage the iPhone even though it does not support removable storage , does provide the required space , well same in the case of Nexus one .. but the only plus point in Nexus one is that it has a removable storage ... so since both of them support more or the less the same amount of storage space i've thought to give them both a Tie .

Well This is kind of my First review about both the phones and not the last :D , so there will be more reviews make on different phones , as soon as i get to know more Plus Points and Minus points of both the Phones i'll put up another review .

    Thank you again :D
  • Kevin M
I really liked it! And it was especially good for your first article as well! I'm just sayin 2 [iPhone] < 3 [Nexus]. I can't wait for your next article. ^.^
  • I'm glad you liked it :D and yes i'll go ahed and agree with you on that .
